If you are going to take alot of auditions your big tuba should be a C,as prevoiusly stated everyone else will be playing one. They do sound nicer by themselves, clearer, cleaner articulation, overall a prettier sound. On the job though, probably noboby will know either way. They will be concerned with pitch, intonation, and how the sound works in the group.I find C's to be easier to play and a little better in tune in general but on the gig nobody except you and whoever you tell will know as long as it sounds great.Chester Schmitz had a C as well as a B flat Alexander that he used over the years and he told me no one ever brought it up.Best of luck.
