A million yeras ago, I learned how to play on a 20K that was only 2 years younger
that I was. In my junior year of High School, I was the ONLY Sousaphone player in a 75 piece H S Band and could be heard whenever I wanted to be without cracking a note. I
used it in dance combos, pit bands, pep bands and dixieland bands. It was a "gamer".

I had the privilege as a Senior to borrow another school's new King Sousa (never been played)for my senior TOUCH OF TUBA solo. The King sounded great in a gymnasium but I could crack notes at will on it if I wasn't careful.

The Conn 20K will always be my favorite and I even sometimes get misty eyed thinking
about all of the music I created with "CHARLIE". That was his name; bass lines were his game.
