-I'm not certain that stuff is actually really silver, or just called "silver".

P.S. This is a great old trick, btw. If you have a beautiful beveled-glass mirror in great shape with horrible silver on the back, strip off all of the remaining silver and put a "good-but-cheap" mirror BEHIND the beautiful beveled glass in the frame!

P.P.S. Just like Dan says, send it to Anderson Silver plating...or if you're simply going to get it RE-silver plated, just have it buffed up really nice before sending it to your favorite plating place. The combination surface of old silver plating, copper strike, and raw brass will plate over with new silver beautifully...again, assuming it is buffed out nicely.
