- More schools need more good tuba players to flesh out their ensembles than they need good euphonium players (?)

- Along the same lines (ensemble fleshing) folks who already play the euphonium well usually seem to just "show up"...as alto sax players do.

- If "top dawg" euphonium players are available (retiring D.C. band personnel) they DO usually seem to get hired immediately as faculty by universities...Perhaps there just aren't very many euphonium teachers (that would interest universities) anyway???

- and, yeah, your faculty brass quintet reason...

Personally, it would make more sense to me to hire a trombone/euphonium teacher.

- Justification-wise, there are more tuba players eeking out a living playing in the U.S. than there are euphonium players.
