I’ve played around with this arrangement on my CC BAT, both in the octave that Mr. Yeo has it, and down an octave, and it makes a lot more sense to me down an octave (but then, I don’t have a strong high range).
The thing that really convinced me was listening to Yo Yo Ma in the most recent Sony release of him doing this Bach Suite. In trying to capture the same feeling as him, the lower octave just makes more sense. Please note that this is a futile effort, as he plays like an angel and I play like a goat, but a goat can dream!
When I get some time, I’ll try this on an Eb, and see which octave makes more sense (for me).
