Over the years a number of guys have approached me on gigs where I was the tuba player in some sort of band - from dates in NYC to when I was a Disnoid in Orlando - claiming to have been an Ohio State Marching Band member who "dotted the 'i'" in the band's signature script "OHIO". In 1986 (I think that year's right) OSU played BYU in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, and I was conscripted into the Rosie O'Grady's dixieland band for the halftime show, and got to see the all-brass and percussion OSU Band in action (the BYU band looked like a high school operation next to them, of course).

I can't think about those maniacs without smiling - high stepping, whipping the sousaphones around constantly - and actually playing the parts!

I've always been proud, and remain so, to shake the hand os an OSU "I-Dotter"... hope the tradition continues!
