If I could choose either of those, I would pass on both of them and get a Rudolf Meinl 4345, either the rotor or piston model.

My playing experience with the PT6-P was that it was a good horn in most quantifiable ways, but the instrument seemed somewhat unwieldy and the sound lacked something that the Hirsbrunners and Rudolf Meinls have. I have played on several HB2-P's over the years, and although some are better than others, I believe the HB-2 rotary model is a better-playing instrument. Rudolf Meinl's 4345 series of tubas are perhaps the most intensely computer-designed CC tubas ever, and that, combined with their old-world construction style results in a horn with the sound I want, and with the intonation and response I need. I have had the opportunity to play a couple of York CC's, and the Rudolf Meinl 4345 CC sounds more like a model 692 York CC than anything else I've played. My $0.02.
