1. Yes it was sarcasm. Thought I was clear there.
2. This has nothing to do with rooting for the home town guy. My comments pertained to wild speculation regarding the breath controll of all of the applicants (save Baer), one of which I use as an example of "I doubt it" since I am able to hear him play live, as he performs regularly in my hometown.
3. They most certainly do not care what we think, and rightly so. That doesn't mean we ought to be sitting around critiquing perfomances we didn't hear, as if it were fact.
The fact that one person is chosen does not, in and of itself, tell us anything about how the others played. It certainly doesn't tell us they need to work on their breath control, as if it were their downfall at the audition.
Just my view, which is admitedly irrelevant.
