Rod,
Unless your F has been stolen, I wouldn't consider anything else to perform Brahms German Requiem. I did this piece here in Dallas last month and I used the smallest tuba I own, my Alexander F. In my opinion, with the exception of the Academic Festival Overture, the tuba in Brahms is more of a bottom voice for the low brass choir and is never the bottom for the entire orchestra. A CC tuba or even my MW 45SLP F tuba make simply too thick a sound for this piece and remove the tuba from chamber qualities that I believe were the intentions of the composer. I even played the Brahms Second Symphony earlier this month on my Alex F. We as tubist rarely get the chance to perform in such settings and this is as close as we get to perfoming in 19th century chamber music.

Think about it before you make your final decision.
