Hello all. Just a little fun here. Would you please share your most over the top recording that you own. You know, the one that you laugh at because it is so fast, loud, slow, badly balanced, or so musically inept as to make you cringe. Keep it to classical/orchestral recordings. Have fun. Here is mine:

Thomas Beecham/RPO performing Handel's Messiah. This is the one with triple winds, a full brass section, to include tuba, a percussion section replete with bells and cymbals(but, alas, no whistles) and what seems to be about a 1000 member choir. I love it for it's sheer audacity, a holdover from the Edwardian "bigger-is-better" Barouque performances. It is a must own for everyone who has had to sit through, or in my case, conduct(not by choice, hey, a buck is a buck)a performance where their is more credence put on correct period intepretation than musical sense. Buy it, you won't believe it.

Chuck
