I mentioned before how much I admire the incredible virtuoso playing of the late Don Goldie, jazz trumpeter. He, along with his drummer (former Assunto's Dukes of Dixieland drummer, Red Hawley - still alive and kickin') were featured in the show's orchestra on the Jackie Gleason variety show (televised out of Miami) during the 1960's.

Here is a link to four brief clips of their playing as Don Goldie's own jazz combo. Have you ever heard such flexible and smooth brass playing? All ranges have the same timbre, and he jumps from one register to another as if he were a clarinetist.

I'm almost as envious as I am in awe.
