All other things being equal, one has a stuffy low end, the other has an out of tune low end. Also, most four valve compensators require two hands to play the valves; most non-compensators have all four valves in-line.
What I want to know is when Yamaha will come out with a good five valve non-compensating euph, sort of a smaller version of the 621 F tuba. Personally, I think the instrument mfrs. are missing an opportunity.
