I went and looked at Yamaha's Japanese home page. I couldn't find anything about where they manufactured, but I believe their professional line stuff is still all made in Japan. My 642 Euph is clearly marked "made in Japan"
It was interesting that when I looked in their spec page for euphoniums they referred to the 842 and 642 as "Bb/F semi-double". In some of the blurbs for the 842 they also called it a "compensating" instrument, but that was the only place I could find the expression "compensating".
I'll be in Tokyo again in a couple of weeks and I'll try to remember to call Yamaha and ask where they make what. They might even tell me!
