The SM3 suggestion for the 642 is an excellent one. However, I found the response on the 642 a little slow for my taste with this mouthpiece. The 842 responded much faster for me with this setup. However, when I switched to a Schilke 51D, the response with the 642 became much better and the differences with the 842 became much diminished. The were only two drawbacks I noted when I switched to the Schilke:
1. It was s littlr less comfortable
2. I lost a little richness in the sound on the Eb, E, and F above pedal Bb. Notes above and below these were unaffected.

Overall, I'm glad I made the switch as the increased responsiveness is amazing. As far as the comfort issue, Vincent Bach once made the statement: "The mouthpiece that feels the best may not play the best." That was certainly my experience.
