Weeel, when I bought my MW 182 I asked Matt Walters to supply me with a suitable mouthpiece, with the caveat that it needed to be a narrow cup. He tried a few and put in a JK Exclusive, which is quite inexpensive (~$50, I think.) After that I went through the "mouthpiece thing," and tried everything under the sun. After building up a small collection, I ended up playing on the JK, because it worked the best on my face. So there's fodder for your fire. I did not, however, try any of the boutique mouthpieces. I'm not advanced enough to tell the difference, to be truthful.

I do use a boutique mouthpiece on my horn, though. The cup is very efficient, and I could not find a standard rim thin enough, so I had one made. Boutique horn mouthpieces are not nearly as expensive as boutique tuba mpcs, though. Maybe it's just because there is so much less metal in them.
