Dan, I slept on your problem and have come to the conclusion that there's gotta be some other reason that your horn is playing so flat. I own a 1935 King BBb (rotary) and it plays bang on at A4=440 with no changes. If you had a horn made in 1915, I'd say that A4=435 was a distinct possibility, but it's pretty remote for one manufactured as late as yours.

Exactly what has been done to your King since you first got it? (i.e. did you change the leadpipe or something else?). Are there any other changes that are obvious that you didn't do yourself? (i.e. a larger bell).

This is really bothering me...
