Did you try this horn with the smaller lead pipe or not? That will make the low notes pop out better. A smaller bore mouthpiece will help also. You may already be using a med. sized bore (8.1 to 8.3mm) but thought you might have used a large bore (8.6 ro 8.7)and this would make it quite open. I have a Mel and it can be big in some if needed but I can get a small sound out of it also. I use a ME 1.
