I have noticed similar sound differences in the euph world. I spent last year in Britain, and after realized that Banders play louder than anyone I have ever heard. I had the chance to play the Midland Area Contest, and have never played louder in my life...or quieter. I think that the demands for the absolute etreme in dynamics demanded in the British brass band world may very well have something to do with the "larger" sound that they acheive...just a thought, and agreement with Andy....dh
