I had good luck on my prototype DS (#2) with a PT 88. It was a good mouthpiece for that horn; it worked well in orchestra and quintet.

But these days I would just try a bunch of Doug Elliott parts and play with various combinations. Call him, call him, call him!! His info is in the archives and he is VERY good at helping you to find the right combination of parts to mate your face to your tuba. (Now THAT brings some weird images to mind...)

Before I sold my DS, I had moved over to a Doug Elliott that I had bought for my Alex (but with a normal sized shank instead of the jumbo Alex one) in order to get used to it prior to switching horns for good. It worked relly well too. I used an R cup with a 132-4N rim and an R5E shank (not really sure on that shank number...).

Either of these will work well with that horn.
