Kyle,
Recording basses are available from any of the major German manufacturers as a special order. Sadly, if King no longer makes theirs, there are none being made in the US. There are some wonderful old recording basses still out there, though. In my career, I was first prejudiced against them, but came around after realizing how well they worked. I have played a 4-rotary Meinl Weston recording bass(had uniball linkage, no less!), two Alexanders, one was a 5-rotary CC, the other a 4-piston BBb, and several Olds, King, and Conn recording basses. Holton and Martin made some huge recording models, and I'm now restoring a 1937 York CC that has upright and recording bells- I'll give you one guess as to which bell I'd use outdoors!
