A college is a place for higher education. If you would like to study to become the best bass drummer in the world, and you have the money, sign up for a performance degree. Most colleges will train you well. I have no problem with what is demanded of a music student. I would like to see more students change their major. Should the college ask: what in the hell are you gonna do with this degree? You see, if the music school tells you to much about making a living in music, or, the JOB MARKET, there would be no music dept. Even the colleges are hiring adjunt staff these days. Should colleges train students to "make a living" or be a musician? I feel that it is a "gross injustice" for any school - any department - any major, to offer a course of study with no attention to the future of the student, or what he expects to you do with the degree.
