Let's start with the fact that music majors have so many one-hour courses that take up time far beyond the course hours. For example, a student in chorus, band, keyboard, and private instruction may only earn four hours, but rehearsals, lessons, and outside practice may eat up twenty-five to thirty hours a week. Add other courses, and what would be a thirty or forty hour per week workload for a really serious student in other majors can easily become 50-70 hours per week for a dedicated music major, all for the same number of hours
