The later Mirafone S-arms had teflon inserts that were QUIET.
As long as the T-universal joint on each control arm is tight and the rotors themselves are tight, the S-arm system is EXCELLENT.
(The T-universal joints can be tightened by simply removing the control arms from the instrument and swedging the steel hinge rods by carefully tapping on their heads with a small hammer.)
