I think that the great movie score composers who are working now will one day be revered right up there with Verdi, Bizet, etc. After all, those guys wrote scores that people wanted to listen to and sing. Before movies, opera was 'popular entertainment'. It was not until later that (donning white tie and tails, nose sharply in the air) opera became 'art'.
