Let me take another stab at the model of the tuba on ebay. I think it is a 3/4 size Conn tuba (most likely a 10J)built in 1969. I bought one of these about 8 months ago being in a similar situation to yours. After many years I was returning to tuba playing in a community band.

The good news - this tuba is light for carrying around; Being a 3/4 tuba is harder to hear my wrong notes over the rest of the band.

The not so good news, at least these are the things I find with my tuba (or maybe its the player). The horn has some limitations. The intonation is fair from the Bb below the staff to the D mid-staff. I am still having problems getting good tone lower than this. The higher notes are tougher to play in tune (of course this could be the player). My tuba has some problems being heard over the rest of the band.

Bottom line is that I am looking for another used BBb.
