I usually say, "I'm a tuba player," or "I play the tuba."

I've tried "tubist" only to receive puzzled looks more often than not.
I lean towards Joe's "tubaist" approach, but it's also a bit awkard to say.

Why did I ask the question? Things seemed a bit slow today, and the same question
recently posted on the TubaEuph forum sure seemed to liven things up a bit!

However, I don't think (as the one grumpy reply on the other forum suggested)
that this question is "useless, insignificant and meaningless drivel". What we
choose to call ourselves is certainly useful and meaningful, and has some level
of significance. And, with the exception of those lacking a sense of humor, it
can provide some helpful and/or amusing insights into our collective thinking
on the topic.
