This is just something to think about.
I haven't played a sousaphone in a good while; however, yesterday I felt something like a craving to play one. The more I think about it, the more I think it's because of the way the horn feels (not because of the stereotypical music and definitely not because of the way they play). A sousaphone just feels comfortable around me, regardless of the weight on my shoulder. I've heard ideas about how playing an instrument usually requires one to be in the fetal position, making the action very soothing and natural. I think holding a sousaphone possibly feels more inviting to me because it is more like a fetal postition.
