It's not a question of "better", but rather what works better for me. Personally, I don't like the last two movements (Adagio; Finale) to really sprawl out. I think the piece works better if those two movements, particularly the finale, are held tightly together. You might not agree. What I like about the Boulez B8 is that it's a tidy performance that doesn't stay on your CD player half the day, but without in anyway shortchanging the climax of the Adagio movement, or the final peroration at the very end of the symphony. In fact, he has one of the very best codas I've ever heard. In the case of the Giulini B8, it's actually the first two movements that I really like.
