I just got done playing the Hartley at an Octubafest at Sam Houston State University. Once you get the pitches down, a tune will actually start coming to your ear. I don't think a recording is necessary. Maybe try recording yourself as you practice and see what you can hear!
2nd movement is by far the hardest to make sound well and accurately portry what Hartley was trying to do. If you get it into a flowing "1" feel rather than a 3/4, you will find that suddenly it gets easier. If you have trouble with the interval skips, try just playing the first note of the measure, or the first and third notes to get it in your ear! Hope this helps! Good luck on your tryout!
