Actually, bell and bows are vacuum-formed from styrene plastic.
Brian has been working on various prototypes of his plastic tuba for several years (the idea is to produce an inexpensive, dent-resistant tuba for kids to start on). Last I spoke with him, he was not online, at all. Some years he comes with a gold-spray-painted version of the same plastic tuba.
