You said "When I drained the vinegar, the effluent was blue. Also
a few little puddles dried blue. Would this be copper oxide being dissolved out?"
Yes
You said "It was very light
blue (no chunks of metal). Should I worry about this, or would you think it's a natural thing to expect?"
No and Yes
Am I a chemist? No! Actually, I would have left it in the horn for a few hours, perhaps overnight. It is also a good idea to flush the horn with water after you dum the vinegar.
Something else that works very well is lemon juice. It seems the citrric acid does a very nice job cleaning out the inside of the horn and it leaves it smelling lemony fresh!
