Actually I don't think it's the non-tubists who would be blown away... to them a low note is a low note. To them even mids and highs are often just more low notes.
It's the tubists who are much more likely to be "blown away" by double pedal notes, real or simulated, and indeed, to disappear up their own 'proverbials' discussing the intricacies thereof!!
