My point was that a good teacher knows how to inspire and motivate students and takes delight in doing it. Quite a different kettle of fish than performance.
If you get right down to it, a teacher can't really *teach* anything; they can only help motivate a student to discover knowledge for her/himself. There are some mediocre players who are wonderful teachers and some wonderfully gifted professionals who shouldn't be allowed within 20 yards of a student.
