Once, while being the receipient of the great hospitality of Harvey Phillips house, he showed me the grand piano where everyone who has played it had signed it. Talk about an historic treasure! Alec Wilder, Marian McPartland, John Lewis . . . A vertible who's who of 20 century pianists. I don't know that engraving tubas is exactly inspired but I know this piano was extra special because of the signatures.
