I'm a senior in high school working out audition dates and applications and whatnot now, too. I plan to audition in person unless there is, for some reason, a direct scheduling conflict. Usually the person who would tape your audition would be the head of the music department--not just some guy with a video camera--but I still prefer to meet the person I'll actually be studying under. I live in CA, so it's probably going to be a lot of flights and spent/wasted money.
