The Yamaha 641 is a 4/4 size rotary valve horn, with around a .800" bore and a 16-17" bell. I remember it being similar in size to a MW Model 25, so it isn't a small horn. The 621 is a 3/4 size horn with a 14" bell. Maybe that is the one you were thinking of?
I have had a similar experience with moving to a smaller mouthpiece. It helped center the sound.
Bigger isn't always better.
