Good point about horn size/overblowing. Don't try to force the horn to play louder. You have to sort of finese it (I can't think of any other way to put it). I have always thought of blowing a lot of thick yet relaxed air (whatever analogy works for you). And even then, as Ken said, there will be some limit. I suppose embessure (god how do you spell that and why don't i know) could have something to do with volume too, especially if you blow through a small hole with a high/big tongue and close jaw. But if you could overblow the horn, I doubt you are. And I agree about the smaller mp idea. Just try before you buy (and bring fellow player to listen to you, if possible). I hope this is still comprehensible after the long trip from my brain to the keyboard.
