I'm a freshman in college and have already made the switch to CC tuba. A lot of your decision depends on the expectations of your professor. I'm in the Ohio University tuba studio with Jason Smith, and he prefers that we switch to CC as a music major. You should check with your future professor and see what their opinion is on the subject. In my opinion, its better to get it out of the way now, so you're not fumbling on fingerings when you arrive at college. My .02
