Of course, I've always believed Mirafone to be an excellent choice, although the price is a concern. If you're getting a 186, you're definitely getting ripped off. A new 186 at Woodwind and Brasswind is between $4200 and $4500. If you're getting a 188, then you're getting a great deal, possibly TOO good a deal. As a precaution you may wish to examine/try out the horn before purchasing. The 186 is much more of an all-around CC horn, while the 188 is more of a band/small-average sized orchestra horn. As for mouthpieces: the act that you've only been playing for four years may be good cause to get a Mirafone TU-23 (AKA C-4), which really gives you something to blow against. You may also wish to look into Perantucci, Rudy-Meinl, and Doug Elliot brand mouthpieces.
