Hey Pete. The guy in the VPO actually had a medium sized F(not a Viennese). His sound was extremely focused and had a great core to it. Not so much a fat "Chicago" sound, but a clear, centered sound that had a great deal of projection. He hardly looked like he was working. The Singverein may have had something to do with it. It was a wonderful concert. The Viennese horns were my favorite. Why these things aren't being played everywhere is beyond me. They are the best sounding French horns I have ever heard. Love those crazy valves. Moving back to the states?
