I have been playing a MW30 for about a year. (Like yours, with only four valves.) I'm using a Shilke 67, which I had previous to this horn. At first, I found that the pitch was high, and certain low notes seemed stuffy. As I got to know the horn, the pitch dropped, and stuffy notes opened up. My experience: I have to be sure to provide a lot of air, in a very relaxed manner. Pretty basic technique, I guess, but this horn seems to demand it more than my old horn. I work a lot on long tones, and playing hymns slowly. Other impressions: warm, dark, rich sound; nice action; very sturdy construction (25 pounds). I enjoy this tuba very much.
