Simply because Yamaha wants you to either check out their tubas in person or contact a dealer directly. I believe they have this policy with all their musical instruments. I've heard that Yamaha genuinely fears that potential customers will, based on price alone, reject their instruments outright (which might be the case if their prices were readily available in catalogs or on the web), rather than making an informed decision, that is, by going to a dealership and actually checking them out in person. I think their worry is a genuine one, especially in cases of expensive instruments, such as tubas and pianos. marc
