I have to keep the tuning slide on my 983 pushed all the way in and even then I'm sometimes a little flat. Another fine EEb player I know had a trial on a 983 this summer and the sole reason for him not buying it was the flatness. Do 983's have a reputation for this?
Any of the repair experts on this BBS have any suggestion for a modification to cure this? The tuning slide can't be cut because it has collars and braces right where it would be cut.
