Well, as you probably saw on my message (look at it if you haven't), I'm an "up-start" tubist, but I do know a few things. I play about 8 different instruments, four of which are brass instruments. They include tuba, trombone, euph., and all the way up to trumpet.(I"m still wotking on the trumpet. haha) Anyway, I've never expereinced any "bruises" or pain in my lips after playing any of those instruments, and then switching back to tuba. I mean, the worst I've felt is the annoying stiffness in my chops from using a smaller mouthpiece. Sorry I can't help much more than this right now.
