David,

I play on a Cereny 686 and find it to be a fairly well in tune up to the Bb on top of the staff (any higher and you have to work fairly hard for a good sound) down to the pedal Db. Prior to this horn I played on a 681 and found it to have the same playing qualites to it. This being said all the other 681's my school has are out of tune but were all made prior to break up of the U.S.S.R. and are made of a thicker guage brass. I guess what I'm getting at is play on the horn before you buy one. Some are ok and some are fairly good though none of them are a Hirsbrunner. As for the CC's Hal Fisher playes on a great 601 and the piggy's arn't anything to write home for on any of my expirences. Just my opinion.
