Dillon has a cheap adapter that works great in my Rudy Meinl 5/4. I think that they charge only $7 or $8 for it. Another option is finding a old Conn sousaphone tuning bit and cutting it off just before the bend with a hack saw. With a little filing and light sanding this works great. I've found that the adapter in my Rudy and other horns makes the response quicker and the sound a bit brighter which I have found pleasing.
