Even though I can easily lift the heaviest corner of my piano, the thought of trying to spin a tuba full of water to empty it, with soapy hands, in a hard, porcelain bathtub, perhaps while leaning around the shower door, is not appealing to me.

Since most junk does not make it past the last slide, why not just remove the last slide (usually the tuning slide) and run lukewarm water and a mild detergent through the "front end" of the tuba, maybe allowing this to soak by plugging up the low end with a rag, then snaking and rinsing? A couple of feet of garden hose will fit nicely over most receivers, and a plastic funnel can direct the water without endangering the tubes.
