Well, considering what an extra seat would cost, you could probably pay a little more for a flight case that would last a long time. Another thing I have done while traveling to auditions is to ask the baggage supervisor or desk clerk if there is a storage area in the airport. They will usually allow you to store it for a few days for a small fee or for free. (they just pushed mine out of the way and left it there) Of course, you might want to slip the guy a ten for his trouble.
