I am currently playing on a large, old Alexander BBb, circa 1915. I am also using a Schilke Helleberg II mouthpiece which, on my other horn, an older model Miraphone 186 BBb, works great in both high and low registers, and the response is good. However, that same mouthpiece on the Alexander horn delivers good tone but poor response. I know that the Alexander is substantially larger than the Miraphone, but would anyone have a suggestion for an additional mouthpiece to use on the Alexander for ensemble and solo playing?
