Ok, here's the scenario. If a student has been studying with Mr. Cox for, let's say 2 or 3 years, the most common response when the new teacher wants something different is to say, "Mr. Cox didn't do it that way!" The student then goes to his friends and tells them the new guy doesn't do it the same as Mr. Cox. Now you have the situation the new guy finds himself in. His hide needs to be thick and he needs to be flexible to handle these situations.

Fair? Not at all, but chances are it'll happen.

It will take at least 2 years to clear out the old crop and get a new one before the new guy can become 'the' teacher.

All I can say is, good luck. He'll need it.
